I am the owner of a 2014 ford focus eco sport, have had the car since 2017.In that time have had to replace the De gas hose once in 2018 and now again in 2022. There is a known design fault with this hose and I am now aware that it fails frequently and in some cases causes serious engine damage.
This should be a recall and the problem hose replaced with a more robust hose .(which I now know is available)
On becoming aware that yet again the De gas hose was cracked and leaking coolant fluid I booked the car into a ford main dealer SMC of uxbridge on Thursday 22 September 2022 ,This being a day the car was not needed by my wife who is the main driver. The car was left at SMC overnight so was available for inspection first thing in the morning.
As this was the second time this work was needed I knew it was a quick procedure, an fully expected the work to be carried out that day.
My wife received a call approx. 1600 saying that they had inspected the car and didn't have a replacement hose on site, and would carry out the work the following day.
Also that the total cost would be£320. My wife needs the car on Friday hence why it had been booked in on the Thursday.
We had to collect the car without the hose been replaced(I had effected a temporary repair when I had originally discovered the faulty hose).
On collection I had to pay £70 for the inspection. Thats £70 to be told by fords what I already knew and a further £ 250 to be paid on rebooking the car in and have the hose replaced.(that will not happen)
My issue with this is that a fords main dealer was going to replace the De gas hose with the original hose which is known to have a serious fault.
Also the price is day light robbery. I can buy that hose from a ford dealer for £40.99 and fit it myself in no more than 30 min. If that!!.
So that's £209 labour on top of the £70 already payed for 30 min work. A total rip off. I am absolutely discussed with the whole experience and although to date every car I have owned par one has been a ford, my next one will defiantly not be.

Hi there.

I ran into a problem on Monday 4th regarding my ford focus 1.0 ecoboost myself and my partner purchased this as she is disabled i was told when i rang they would issue a goodwill and the dealer and another colleague told me about fox scheme then told hear they won't cover it i done some online research regarding this and ford are picking and choosing who gets and who doesn't get the repairs covered my car has full service history and is in immaculate condition. I've spoken to ford parts who is a dismantle company and he stated this is a common fault and even lookers ford have said the same i spoke to an ex ford mechanic who states these cars were designed in mass production and they knew they would fail. Since calling I've been given a mouthful of abuse of an advisor and i also done some research online regarding this wet belt no oil pressure problem there are hundreds of thousands of people with the same issue and this is not fair at all. I've attached photos for your reference of my vehicle amongst several others. Regards
