I have tried to speak to a member of your customer service team on three occasions today each call lasted more than 10 minutes. I get the impression that you don’t want to speak directly to customers and prefer to hide behind an Email. Using this approach you will miss the opportunity to benefit from real customer feedback. Very disappointed in such an outdated method of silencing customers.
The manger at Sandbach treated my family bubble like a party of naughty school children today. I was discussed at her rude attitude.
We sat at a table that had not been closed off. The space was safe. There was no notice stating only 3 people to a table. We were a party of 3 adults and a 3 year old child. I found a table with 3 seats so i pulled up a small chair to sit my granddaughter on.
We had been in the caffee for about 15 minutes when the older member of staff on duty approached us.
She told my daughter to pull the chair in as it was breaking social distancing rules.
It had not been pushed out for the whole time but the child had pulled the chair slighly away from the table seconds before the staff member approached.
At this point there was only my family and one other customer in the back section of the shop.
MY daughter immediately pulled the chair back to table The manager did not leave it there, in an abrupt authoritative manner she then proclaimed we were not allowed to have 4 seats at the tables. Hence we left and will never feel the need to vist a Costa again.
Not because we are ignorant of how hard it is for hardworking hospitality staff to enforce the safe distancing rule.
It is because the manager stood within 12 inches of our table and repremanded us in a loud and authoritative maner on the safe distancing rules of the shop.
We were not shown to a table, we were not asked for our details, the in and out rout is extremely close together and there are no signs to say no more than 3 to a table.
I did not once the whole time we were there see a member of staff disinfecting any of the tables as people left.
The manager nevertheless seem to take great pleasure in speaking to us like we were naughty school children she did not seem to mind who heard her let alone how close she was to us when doing so.
Since the lifting of the lock down I have visited a good few coffee establishments. The staff have all remained in control but polite. The attitude if your staff member was far from polite today.
As a nurse I am well aware of what safe distance means I have never been so embarrassed in my life as I was today. If this is what I can expect from Costa in the future I can live without it.
Staff dont clean tables straight away have to ask to clear crap first then after ordering get someone to clean table but chairs dhould be cleaned too aftefr every customer not later not really good enough and long cues take too much time shsme though in stevenage branch in old town need someone from head office to com down and see whats going on
