Both the Westwood Cross branch in Thanet and the Sandwich branch in Kent….need environmental health people to go to these premises..I have seen photos from ex employees on the filth that these establishments are in…people have been ill after eating from these establishments as they use food which is 2 days out of date and the franchisee is only interested in sales……think that who ever has these franchises need to be sacked…..

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Subway Shrewsbury Town Centre, St Mary Way.

Date of Visit: October 5th, 2023

My recent visit to the Subway in Shrewsbury Town Centre left me deeply disappointed and dissatisfied with both the service and attitude of the employee working on the evening of Thursday, October 5th, 2023. This experience was so off-putting that I feel compelled to share my thoughts to help others make informed decisions when considering dining at this establishment.

From the very beginning of our visit, it was clear that this particular employee lacked basic hygiene practices and a customer-oriented attitude. The most concerning aspect of our experience was her refusal to change her gloves when handling meat and subsequently preparing a vegetarian sandwich. This not only showed a disregard for food safety but also raised serious concerns about cross-contamination.

Furthermore, my companion and I had frequently swapped chicken out for other ingredients in our sandwiches during previous visits to Subway outlets, without issue. However, this time, the employee displayed a dismissive and uncooperative attitude when we requested the substitution. Her behaviour was unwarranted and, frankly, unprofessional.

To make matters worse, when preparing our sandwiches, she used the same knife for cutting both the meat and the vegetarian ingredients, resulting in the sauces and meat contaminating our supposedly sauce-free, vegetarian option. This negligence not only impacted the taste but also posed potential health risks for customers who seek a vegetarian or vegan option.

Finally, when we inquired about the availability of hash browns, we were met with a refusal due to apparent time constraints. It is disappointing that such a simple request could not be accommodated, especially when Subway's menu typically includes a variety of items that should be readily available during their operating hours.

My experience at the Subway in Shrewsbury Town Centre on October 5th, 2023, was abysmal. The lack of hygiene, uncooperative attitude, and disregard for customer preferences displayed by the employee were entirely unacceptable. If this Subway is indeed a franchise, as many are, it is imperative that both the franchisee and their staff are held accountable for maintaining consistent quality and customer service.

As a result of this experience, I will not be returning to this particular Subway location, nor will I recommend it to others, especially the local college students with whom my daughter is acquainted. It is my hope that by sharing this review, potential customers will be better informed and consider alternative dining options that prioritise customer satisfaction and food safety. In light of these issues, I can only give this Subway location one star, and I strongly advise others to avoid it at all costs.

My son has Corliss disease and as he has to have gluten free to manage this subway is one of the only fast food options that cater for this. How ever it was very apparent that today the staff at the longlevens store clearly do not understand the seriousness of cross contamination and keeping gluten free separate from the other breaded items!!! I had to tell her to change her gloves, change the paper wrapper which she had already contaminated with her previous gloves and then tell her she needed to wipe the side because she was totally useless in any understanding of gluten-free! Her manager then tried to buy a normal breaded roll in the same grill oven with the gluten free sub and I had to specifically shout out no stop as she went to put it on the same tray as my sons gluten free item! I was totally sickened at this and it gives me no confidence that if you are providing a gluten free option that these staff don’t have a clue how to make the area safe for gluten free and follow procedures!! If my son ate gluten contaminated item he would be seriously poorly and it would affect him for month as it is an autoimmune condition where his body attacks it self! I asked for their complaints procedure and they couldn’t give me it apparently and I also had to get my own receipt as the girl was a total incapability of any customer service. I am also raising this with food standard agency and the local authority food hygiene because of he was contaminated with gluten you would be responsible as giving the option by providing gluten free, it you can’t make sure all staff follow protocol then something needs to be done! I was utterly disgusted and so was my 11year old son.

I recently visited Subway at the service station at Keele and was very impressed by the young man who was serving. He had to deal with a very obnoxious character who was raising his voice ,jumped the queue and was extremely rude. The young man remained calm and attended to him even though he looked stressed.I have worked in the field of mental health and knew that to challenge this man would have aggravated the situation.Well done to your employee.
